Summary
The article is dedicated to examination of trends in the development of the competence of the court of cassation in countries such as France, the Netherlands, Lithuania and Estonia, where courts are entitled to amend or adopt new rulings in certain cases. It offers discussion of the potential benefits and challenges of these developments, including improving judicial efficiency and reducing retrials.
