Anotācija
Pētījumā dokumentētas Viesītes senioru mutvārdu vēstures liecības korelācijā ar Viesītē uzņemtām 20. gs. 50. gadu fotogrāfijām. Pētījuma mērķis ir apzināt konkrētas pilsētas fotogrāfiju potenciālu vēstures naratīva veidošanā, balstoties uz vietējo iedzīvotāju atmiņām un vēstures faktiem. Ja arī attēlotam notikumam teicējs nav aculiecinieks, fotogrāfija veido asociācijas un atklāj iepriekš nedokumentētus vēstures faktus.

Photography in the Narrative of History: Example of the Town of Viesīte in the 1950s

Abstract
The research involved documenting the oral history testimonies of senior citizens of Viesīte in correlation with photographs taken in Viesīte in the 1950s. The aim of the current report is to identify the potential of photographs of a specific city in creating a historical narrative, based on the memories of local residents and historical facts. Even if the narrator is not an eyewitness to the depicted event, the photograph creates associations and reveals previously undocumented historical facts.
