Summary
The aim of the article is to acknowledge the present state of the law with regard to the recognition and protection against intersectional multiple discrimination under the EU law. For those purposes, the author explains different types of multiple discrimination, including intersectional discrimination and the reasons why intersectional discrimination exists, however, not yet properly recognized by EU law. Several legal venues are addressed, whereby intersectional discrimination may be countered, providing analysis of the possibility to ensure protection against it under present instruments available under the EU law. In parallel, the author argues that intersectional discrimination is present in Latvia and one issue is even addressed by Latvian law.
